File Requirements

To create a beautiful metal print, it all begins with the file requirements. Ensuring your image meets our specifications is crucial. We recommend using files with a resolution of 300 DPI, an Adobe RGB color profile, and JPG, JPEG or PNG image formats. This ensures your image looks its best when printed.

To help you visualize the final outcome and prevent pixelation or fuzziness, we’ve previously discussed the “1-inch rule.” By using a physical ruler to gauge the image size in your editing software, you can get a more accurate preview of what the print will look like.

A Peek Behind the Metal Print Process

The production of metal prints involves a fascinating process called dye sublimation. This technique uses heat and pressure to infuse your image onto glossy silver or white-coated aluminum. But before this, meticulous attention goes into ensuring the transfer paper and metal surface are immaculately clean to avoid any unwanted dust or debris showing up in the final print.

In our production facility, one of the critical steps is aligning the metal and the transfer paper accurately. This prevents any shifting during the printing process. The use of a heat transfer machine with specific temperatures and times allows for a precise infusion of your image onto the metal.

To demonstrate this, we have a video that provides a visual insight into the process. You can witness the steps involved, including securing the metal to the transfer paper, placing it in the heat transfer machine, and maintaining a dust-free environment. The result is a stunning, glossy metal print that retains the vibrancy of your original image.

Variations

At Lumaprints, we offer two primary metal options: glossy silver and glossy white. The choice depends on your image’s characteristics and your aesthetic preferences.

  • Glossy Silver is ideal for silver-themed imagery or black-and-white photos.
  • Glossy White maintains the true color of your image, making it perfect for most scenarios.

Hanging and Shipping Options

When it comes to hanging your metal print, we offer three main options. The metal easel is great for smaller prints, especially if you want to display them on a desk or furnishing. It provides a flusher wall hanging compared to the other options.

The inset frame is versatile, featuring a small lip that allows you to hang it in various orientations. This frame design simplifies the installation process.

For a more stable mounting solution, you can opt for stainless steel mounting posts available in two diameters, 0.75 inches and 1 inch. These posts offer a robust and secure method of displaying your metal print.

When it comes to shipping metal prints, we’ve implemented a spidering technique that keeps the print suspended inside the packaging. This prevents the corners of the print from touching the packaging, minimizing the risk of damage during transit. As a result, shipping metal prints is cost-effective and safe.

The Versatility of Metal Prints

Metal prints offer a world of possibilities for your artwork. They work exceptionally well with vibrant and saturated imagery, making colors pop and shine due to the metal’s reflective surface. Whether it’s photography with neon colors or highly saturated artworks, metal prints can bring your images to life.

These prints are versatile, finding applications in various settings, including corporate, hospitality, and retail spaces. If you have clients looking to adorn their store walls, hotel rooms, or office spaces, metal prints can add a touch of elegance and sophistication.

Custom Sizes and the Future Plans

While we currently have set sizes, we’re excited to share that we’re actively working on offering custom sizes in the near future. This will provide you with even more flexibility to cater to your specific needs.

As for three-point security installation option for metal prints. While we already offer this for canvas prints, we’re currently testing the application for metal prints. This additional security feature is in development and may be available soon.
