Shipping Basics: Why Timelines Matter

Customers who understand production and transit times feel confident at checkout and send fewer “Where’s my order?” messages. Clear expectations translate into smoother support and stronger reviews.

  • Accurate timelines build trust and reduce support tickets.
  • Transparent policies encourage repeat purchases.

Production & Delivery Timeline

Here’s what to expect for U.S. orders during non-peak months.

  • Production: 2–3 business days (Mon–Fri) for printing, stretching or mounting, inspection, and packing.
  • Ground / standard transit: typically 1–7 days once the package ships (varies by distance & service).
  • Total doorstep window: ~3–10 days for most addresses; West Coast often arrives sooner, while remote ZIP codes may need extra time.
  • Holiday cut-off dates are announced annually—share them with shoppers early.

Packaging Practices by Product

Each product type has dedicated protection to minimize damage.

  • Stretched Canvas – Poly bag, corrugated face pad, padded box.
  • Framed Canvas – Poly bag, foam corners, “spidering” suspension between two oversized cardboard pads.
  • Metal Prints – Packed similar to framed canvas with edge/corner protection and internal suspension to reduce transit impact.
  • Fine-Art Paper Prints – Stay-flat mailers for small sizes; triangular boxes or tubes for larger prints, all poly-sleeved (some orders may instead arrive wrapped in kraft paper for added protection).
  • Foam-Mounted Prints – Rigid box with added internal supports.
  • All cartons are sealed securely and labeled “Fragile.”

Custom Branding & Inserts

Personal touches are simple to add and ship automatically.

  • Logo on canvas backs: Upload a PNG or JPEG in Store Settings; it prints on every canvas.
  • 8½ × 11 in. store printouts: Auto-insert thank-you notes, care tips, or promo codes in every order.
  • Premium inserts: Order small fine-art prints (e.g., 4 × 6 in.) as thank-you cards; include “Ship with canvas” in Special Instructions so everything travels together.

Communicating Timelines to Buyers

Proactive messaging keeps shoppers informed.

  • Display “Made to order—ships in 2–3 business days plus transit time” at checkout.
  • Link a detailed Shipping FAQ from product pages.
  • Automate “Shipped” and “Delivered” emails with clickable tracking links.
  • During peak seasons, highlight cut-off dates on banners, social posts, and newsletters.

Managing Delays & Damage

Occasional issues happen; quick action maintains confidence.

  • Tracking stalled? Contact Lumaprints support for reroute or reprint.
  • Damaged on arrival? Request photos of the box, packing, and artwork; we’ll prioritize a quick replacement.
  • Update buyers as soon as you spot a delay to prevent repeat inquiries.

Holiday Shipping Preparation

High volumes and carrier congestion mean early planning.

  • Publish cut-off dates across storefront, email, and social channels.
  • Order branded inserts ahead of the rush.
  • Check tracking daily in December; address anomalies promptly.
  • Pause or limit sales if demand outpaces capacity.

International Shipping Guidance

We can ship internationally (except Germany), but we do not encourage it—especially for heavier stretched or framed pieces—because customs and multi-leg handling add time and risk.

  • Customs processing times vary—add buffer days.
  • Lightweight paper prints (rolled or flat) carry the least risk; heavier framed or stretched items cost more and face higher damage potential.
