Lumaprints offers pigment inks or eco-solvent inks for your canvas prints. Both of these inksets are archival and will last over 100 years when displayed in the proper conditions. The pigment inks use 12 different ink to mix into the largest possible color range that technology provides today. The eco-solvent inks have 8 different ink channels and provides an extremely large color range as well. Colors that are extremely saturated will print better using the pigment inks. There will be no discernable difference between prints The chemistry of the eco-solvent inks makes it more sensitive to the color temperature of the lighting conditions.  The color profiles are built based on 5000K lighting (daylight) and may shift when displayed under yellowish light (<4000K). The pigment inks are more stable and are less sensitive to ambient color temperatures.

Eco-solvent inks embeds itself deeper in the canvas media, and does not require an extra varnish coating to protect it. This allows for lower production costs, and will be less expensive.

The varnish coating does give the prints additional scratch and abrasion resistance. If your canvas will receive a lot of handling (such as displaying it often at art festivals) we recommend getting the varnish coating.

Keeping the prints in the right environment will maximize their life. Direct sunlight will cause the colors to fade prematurely. Pollutants such as smoke will also negatively impact the lifespan of the media. Excess humidity may cause molding. Extreme low humidity will cause the wood stretcher frame to shrink which may cause the stretch to be less tight and result in sagging. This effect is temporary and will go away once it returns to a normal humidity range. The lighting conditions also affect how the prints will be viewed. Our monitors and printers are calibrated to ambient light conditions of D50 (5000K daylight) Viewing under different light conditions may affect how the colors are perceived by your eyes. The archival eco-solvent inks are more sensitive to display color temperatures. If your prints will be displayed under warmer lighting conditions (yellow) we recommend you select the option for the archival pigment inks (with or without varnish) rather than the archival eco-solvent inks.

Recommended file formats are JPG, TIFF, PSD, PNG. We can also accept files in PDF and AI, but don’t recommend them since there are occasionally (although rare) cases where the file format is not correctly converted prior to printing.

Our workflow is design around AdobeRGB, but if you would like us to process a ProPhotoRGB image, we can accommodate this. You need to select printing using the Archival Pigment Inks (any varnish option is ok) and put a note in the Special Instructions files have a larger color gamut than AdobeRGB.

We print using the Adobe RGB color space. If you send a file in sRGB, we will convert it to AdobeRGB prior to printing. The conversion process from sRGB to AdobeRGB does not affect the colors.

Our ordering process is simple. Upload the photo on our order page. Please make sure the file size is large enough to ensure a high quality print when enlarged. Alternatively, the photo can be emailed to us at contact@lumaprints.com, or you can drop off the actual photo for us to scan at our show room. If you ask for any photo modifications, we will work closely with you to make sure the image is exactly to your liking before we print it onto canvas.

Through Lumaprints Pro, you are receiving a low price level that will allow you to resell your canvas at a nice profit. In additional to this, you are eligible for a volume discount based upon your canvas purchases per order. You can see the tiers in our pricing tab.

We understand that color accuracy if very important to the professionals we are working with. Our monitors and printers are calibrated regularly to ensure that our canvas prints match the color details in your file. We recommend that you calibrate your monitor as well to make sure what you are viewing on your screen is what we see from our end as well. Some low cost calibration devices are the X-Rite ColorMunki, or Datacolor Spyder4. There are different versions of these devices, but even the lowest cost one will be able to calibrate your display better than what can be done with just your eyes. If you attempt to calibrate with out a device, your computer should have a walkthough wizard to help you with this. If you have a PC, here is an article that can help:  http: //www.pcworld.com/article/241957/how_to_calibrate_your_monitor.html

We can also send you a hard proof of your image printed on canvas so you can see exactly how the colors and brightness details will be. Please contact us via email (contact@lumaprints.com) an attach a copy of the image. We will print it on a size of approximately 8x10" rolled canvas and ship it to you via a USPS flat rate envelope. There is no charge for this service, other than the cost of postage (Usually around $5.20). However, please make sure you have an extra week before your deadline before requesting a hard proof.

Typically, the larger the print size, the higher the definition the photo should be. If the file size is too small, the image will become pixelated at the larger print sizes. To ensure a high quality print, please make sure the approximate resolutions are used for your digital images:

The resolution from most digital cameras works perfectly for our photo canvas product.

If your camera is 5 mega pixel or higher and the photo was taken at the highest setting you won't have a problem. If you're not sure about any of that, you can check the file size by right clicking on your image, then, click on properties, where the size will be displayed. Compare that number to the recommended resolutions listed above.

Please note, the sizes listed in the table are the popular sizes we have seen.

If you are not familiar with what resolution you can or can not use, please message contact@lumaprints.com

To provide our customers with flexibility, we can provide our canvas in several wrapping options. The simplest is our rolled canvas. We will provide instructions for stretching, or alternatively, you can take it to your framer to have this done. Next, we can provide a pre-stretched canvas onto 0.75 inch thick wooden bars. This option is recommended for framing. If you wish to mount the canvas on the wall without framing, we recommend our 1.5 inch thick stretcher bars.

In order to accommodate the wrap, we need some extra to pull around the stretcher bars. For 1.5” wraps, we need an additional 2” added to each side and for the 0.75” wraps, we need an additional 1” added to each side. For example, a 16x20x1.5” will need to actually be sized at 20x24” with the bleed included and a 16x20x0.75” will need to actually be sized at 18x22” with the bleed included.

Yes! We can mix and match any length stretcher bar listed and we also have less common lengths in stock. Please contact us at: contact@lumaprints.com for details.

We are capable of printing any digital images. There are no restrictions on what can be printed, although we do reserve the right to refuse orders if the contents are deemed offensive. Additionally, if the images are copyrighted, you must have permission from the copyright owner for reproduction.

The canvases will be shipped via USPS, FedEx, or UPS.

The canvases are quite durable once given our protective coating and should resist most scratches, smudges, fingerprints, etc. You can dust canvases with a soft, dry cloth. If your canvas needs deeper cleaning you may try a damp cloth but we cannot guarantee or recommend this. Should the canvas get nicked and loose ink in a certain area, it can be touched up with waterproof felt-tip markers or touch-up paint.

Our gallery wrap canvas can be hung directly to the wall without framing. If you select our rolled canvas or 0.75" thick option, we recommend that they be framed. We include the hanging hardware loose free of charge. If you would like us to install it prior to shipment, the extra cost will be $1.50 per canvas. If you need us to install a Black Backboard backing with hanging wire installed, the extra charge is $8.50 per canvas
